I have let emotions get the best of me sometimes, buying at a market high, and selling at the market low. I have gotten caught up in “hot stocks tips” from people, only to lose everything I put in. I have had financial advisers that I listened to, where I made tons of money for them, but didn’t make anything myself.

It is because they have to meet a certain quota of sales or they are out. It has nothing to do with how good a job they are doing with your money or if they are acting in your best interest.
It has everything to do with doing things in the firm’s best interest. As soon as they make the sale they move on to the next person and the next and next…
You get the picture. Now that isn’t to say that there aren’t good financial advisers out there. I belong to a large financial planning organization and there are some great people who really care about your financial future. If you have one of those advisers, great.
